May 22, 2022: Back in Fiji
On May 22, I (Barbara) returned to Fiji to prepare Islander for the next passage of the circumnavigation. Vince, our friend from Flight Plan, came with me. He stayed for three weeks, reinstalling the wind generator and solar panels, doing numerous electrical jobs, patiently teaching me how to service winches, and much more. Many, many thanks, Vince! I decided to have Islander’s topsides painted. The pounding seas had literally worn the paint off her. Since there was no light gray paint available in Fiji—except by special order, which would take several weeks to arrive—I opted for white, the only color on hand. Spray painting a boat requires a full tent around the boat. Here you see Islander under wraps. Posted by Barbara
